Tiantai has recently completed a new set of 600L Kombucha SCOBY fermentation tanks, specially designed for commercial kombucha production.

For this project, the customer was looking for a practical and cost-effective fermentation solution without compromising the hygienic requirements of kombucha production. Based on the application, Tiantai designed the tanks with a single-wall construction, helping reduce equipment cost while maintaining the essential functions required for reliable SCOBY fermentation.
Cost-Effective Single-Wall Design
Unlike traditional jacketed fermentation tanks, these 600L Kombucha fermentation tanks feature a single-wall construction.
Since the fermentation process does not require active cooling through a tank jacket in this application, a single-wall design provides a more economical solution while keeping the tank structure simple and easy to maintain.
This makes the tanks particularly suitable for kombucha producers who are looking for a cost-effective fermentation system for commercial production.

Lid Strut for Easier and Safer Operation
Each fermentation tank is equipped with a lid strut.
The lid strut helps reduce the force required to open the tank lid and provides a smooth, controlled opening motion. Once opened, the lid can remain in a stable, partially or fully open position, providing a convenient hovering and buffering effect.
This simple mechanical design makes daily operations more comfortable for operators, especially when the tank lid needs to be opened frequently for SCOBY handling, inspection, or cleaning.

Hygienic Interior ā Fully Polished to 0.2ā0.4 μm
Hygiene is especially important in kombucha production, where the fermentation process relies on a controlled microbial environment.
The interior surface of the tanks is fully polished to a surface roughness of Ra 0.2ā0.4 μm, providing a smooth and hygienic surface that helps minimize product residue and makes cleaning easier.
The internal design also follows a dead-end-free principle, reducing areas where liquid or microorganisms could accumulate and helping improve cleaning and sanitation performance.

Top-Mounted CIP Spray Ball
For efficient cleaning, each tank is fitted with a CIP spray ball on the top.
The spray ball distributes cleaning solution over the internal tank surface, allowing the tank to be cleaned efficiently without requiring frequent manual intervention.
Combined with the smooth polished interior and dead-end-free design, the CIP system helps simplify routine cleaning and sanitation procedures.

Designed for Practical Kombucha Production
In addition to the main features above, the 600L Kombucha fermentation tanks are designed with practical details for everyday operation, including:
- 600L working volume
- Single-wall construction for cost efficiency
- Stainless steel hygienic construction
- Lid strut for easier lid opening and controlled hovering
- Interior polishing to Ra 0.2ā0.4 μm
- Dead-end-free internal design
- Top-mounted CIP spray ball
- Hygienic fittings and connections suitable for beverage production
- Easy access for SCOBY handling, inspection, and cleaning
Every detail is designed around the actual requirements of kombucha fermentation rather than simply adding unnecessary features.
Tiantai ā Customized Fermentation Equipment for Kombucha Production
Kombucha production can involve different fermentation methods, batch sizes, temperature requirements, and SCOBY handling procedures. Therefore, fermentation tanks can be customized according to the customer’s production process and operating conditions.
From small commercial kombucha facilities to larger beverage production projects, Tiantai can provide customized stainless steel fermentation tanks and complete kombucha brewing systems, with the tank volume, construction, fittings, CIP system, heating/cooling requirements, and control system adapted to the specific application.
