500L distillery equipment

Project: 500L Distillery Equipment
Location: Edinburgh, UK

This 500L distillery equipment system mainly includes:

–500L Mash/Lauter tun + 1000L HLT
–500L single-layer fermentation tanks
–500L blending tanks for RTD
–500L brite tank
–Glycol chiller
–500L double-pot distillation unit
–Control panel
–Batch pasteurizer and so on.

Craft distilling continues to grow worldwide, with more distilleries choosing flexible and efficient equipment to produce premium spirits in small batches.

Recently, Tiantai Brewtech successfully completed a 500L distillery equipment project for a customer producing single malt whisky and RTD beverages. The project includes a mash/lauter tun, hot liquor tank, fermenters, a double-pot distillation system, and a blending tank, providing a complete solution from mashing to distillation and beverage blending.

Mash/Lauter Tun and Hot Liquor Tank

The brewhouse section includes a mash/lauter tun and a hot liquor tank designed to support efficient wort production for whisky fermentation. The system provides reliable temperature control during mashing and sufficient hot water capacity for brewing and cleaning operations.

Cost-Effective Fermentation Solution

To reduce the initial investment cost, the customer selected single-wall fermenters for this project. Since the local ambient temperature is suitable for fermentation throughout most of the year, dedicated cooling jackets were not required.

This simplified design offers an economical solution while still providing the necessary fermentation capacity for whisky wash production.

Double Pot Distillation Design

This project adopts a 500L wash still + 300L spirit still configuration.
The wash still is used for the first distillation of fermented wash, while the spirit still performs the second distillation to produce cleaner and higher-quality spirits.

This design provides:

  • Better separation of heads, hearts and tails
  • Improved spirit quality
  • Higher operational flexibility
  • Easier recipe adjustment for different spirits

Blending Tank for RTD Beverage Production

In addition to whisky production, the project also includes two blending tanks for RTD beverage manufacturing. The tank is equipped with an agitator and an explosion-proof motor, ensuring safe and efficient mixing of ingredients during production.

The blending system provides flexibility for developing a variety of ready-to-drink products and supports future expansion into additional beverage categories.

From Distilling to Beverage Production

This project demonstrates how a well-planned production facility can combine traditional distilling with modern beverage manufacturing. By integrating whisky production equipment with practical fermentation and blending solutions, the customer has established a versatile platform capable of producing both premium spirits and value-added RTD products.

At Tiantai Brewtech, we provide customized distillery and beverage processing solutions tailored to each customer’s production goals, process requirements, and budget.
