What is the dormancy of barley, how to remove it?
Barley dormancy was caused by germination inhibitors, these substances present in the hull must be decomposed or oxidized during ripening.

Embryos under optimum conditions (such as oxygen, water content, temperature) no ability to germinate, freshly harvested barley generally require 6-8 weeks to be sustained malting, the period is called barley dormancy.

Removal the barely dormancy may take the following methods:
Removing barley wheat husk, seed coat, pericarp, germ or drilling in the vicinity of the cortex.

The barley was heated to 40-50℃ and promote germination inhibitor in the pericarp to oxide, or add 1% H2O2, so the oxygen can enter the peel and seed coat.
Also can add 0.05% H2S or mercaptans with thiourea can inhibition the phenol in the peel to oxcide the enzyme and provide more oxygen for the embryo.

3.Add GA,it can stimulate produce cystine and cysteine in the germ and promote to form enzym.
